Veteran video journalist A.J. Chavar to join Vox Media

Chavar is currently a video journalist for the New York Times based in Washington, and a former White House News Photographer’s Association board member

Vox Media today announced that veteran video journalist A.J. Chavar is joining the company’s video team as a senior producer focused on news, as Vox continues to push into news video and grow this team.

He’ll report to Vox’s Managing Producer Val Lapinski beginning on November 27th.

A.J. is currently a video journalist for The New York Times based in Washington, and a former White House News Photographer’s Association board member. He previously worked at the Washington Post as a general assignment video journalist.

His reporting has taken him inside shark tanks at the national aquarium, onboard Air Force One, and in the thick of civil unrest, natural disasters, and mass shootings. A.J.’s work has been recognized by the national Edward R. Murrow award, Pictures of the Year International, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and the WHNPA.
