Prior to her new role, Frank was Senior Manager of Audience Experience and Acquisition at the business publisher SmartBrief
Arlington, VA – November 1, 2017 — The News Media Alliance today announced the hire of Rebecca Frank as Director, Research & Insights. In this role, Frank will work closely with the Alliance leadership team and staff to collect facts and data that support member newspaper organizations’ goals for growing audience and engagement.
“Rebecca has a very detailed understanding of the publishing industry and how data can be used to aid the industry as it navigates the numerous challenges and opportunities it faces today,” said Alliance President and CEO, David Chavern. “Her background fits perfectly with the goal of this position, to cultivate data points that can be used to communicate about the strengths of the industry and contribute to our advocacy efforts. We are delighted to have her on board.”
Prior to working for Smartbrief, Frank helped launch the Global Strategy & Analytics Group at the public relations firm Burson-Marsteller, working with Fortune 500 brands to develop online reputation monitoring tactics, as well as proprietary audience research and analysis tools. Her previous work also includes audience research and strategy in the public health, automotive, and pharmaceutical sectors.

Frank graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in Political Science and Economics. Originally from the New York City area, she currently resides in Alexandria, VA.
