Adobe Photoshop Express mobile app update adds text controls

The Version 6.0 update also adds Perspective Correction, JPEG Quality output controls, and other nice features

A few years back Adobe was one of the few tech/software companies that I felt did a decent job of informing the media (and TNM, specifically) of what was new, coming up, etc. Sadly, I can’t even remember the last time I’ve heard from Adobe or its PR agency (for a few years Jaclyn Percy did a fantastic job at Edelman on the Adobe account, but now she is at HP as Worldwide PR Manager, and married!).

Adobe Photoshop ExpressSo, when the today’s Adobe Photoshop Express mobile app update came through it was no surprise that I had to discover it myself, and I see no PR or blog posts about it. But it is an important update.

What’s New in Version 6.0
• Introducing Text – Adding one of the most demanded features. You can now add text and create incredible memes, using a variety of fonts, colors, and transparency options.
• Perspective Correction – Fix those skewed perspective photos with just a click! Choose from auto (balanced or full auto), vertical, or horizontal correction options.
• Collage Enhancements – Collage workflow is enhanced to let you create even more stunning collages.
– Pop Color – Accentuate a single color in your collage automatically. The results are mesmerizing. Do try it out!
– New Layouts – Awesome layout options including freeform layouts are added for creating spectacular collages.
– New Backgrounds – Breathtaking backgrounds are added to further enhance your collages.
• JPEG Quality output – Customize the quality and size of your output image.
• Experience Enhancements – We love it when you love to use our app. We’ve tweaked and enhanced the overall editing experience to make it more enjoyable and simple for you.
• Help Section – Added for guiding you on various functionalities in the app.

As you can see, the big change is that Adobe as added text support.

Text is something I use a lot in Photoshop on my iMac. In situations where I might use InDesign, I often use Photoshop because it the text I’m adding is not complex and so Photoshop does all I need.

In a mobile situation, I don’t need terribly complex text either, but I do need the power of Photoshop, so this update will be handy.

There are other enhancements, the only I will use the most is the JPEG Quality output which will allow you to keep those file sizes down so that you will use less data when sending a photo via messaging or email.
