Hearst Magazines International appoints Richard Bean director of intern’l licensing and biz dev
Bean began his career at Future Publishing, and prior to his role at Hearst, was international director of MAXIM at Dennis Publishing
NEW YORK, NY — May 22, 2017 – Hearst Magazines International (HMI) today announced that Richard Bean has been appointed director of international licensing and business development, effective immediately. The announcement was made by Simon Horne, HMI senior vice president, chief financial officer and general manager, to whom Bean will report.
“Richard has a wealth of international publishing experience that will allow him to further elevate our brands and brand extensions around the world,” Horne said. “These are exciting times in the publishing industry and at Hearst, and we have tremendous opportunities across titles, markets and platforms. Richard will help us broaden our reach to its full potential.”
In his new role, Bean will be responsible for global media licensing across HMI’s existing international network of joint venture and licensee media partners, while devising and implementing strategies to continue expansion of the network’s reach around the world.

Prior to his role at Hearst, Bean was international director of MAXIM at Dennis Publishing. He began his career at Future Publishing where he established the company’s export newsstand department and was instrumental in growing its international licensing business.
