ALM promotes Heather Nevitt to Executive Editor of Corporate Counsel and Inside Counsel

Also: Gina Passarella has been promoted to Executive Editor of ALM’s The American Lawyer magazine

New York, NY—February 6, 2017—Heather Nevitt has been promoted to Executive Editor of ALM’s Corporate Counsel and Inside Counsel publications in addition to her role as Editor in Chief of Texas Lawyer. In her new role, Nevitt will be reporting, editing, bringing video and podcasts to the various publications sites, building communities and developing new event ideas to engage readers and sponsors.

“Heather has demonstrated the ability to build a strong digital presence with the Texas Lawyer while also innovating on print. Her focus on the inhouse market has come to life through the work she has done on the inhouse section of the Texas Lawyer and through the many events she has successfully brought to market,” said Molly Miller, Chief Content Officer at ALM. “We are thrilled to have her role at ALM expand as the Executive Editor of Corporate Counsel and Inside Counsel.”

After practicing law for several years, Nevitt joined ALM in 2005 as Acquisitions Book Editor for Texas Lawyer where in two years she grew the book business three-fold. In 2010, she took on the role of Regional Book Editor for the southern region that included Texas, Georgia and Florida book acquisitions. In 2013, she became the Editor in Chief of Texas Lawyer and took on the challenge of transitioning the traditionally print-focused publication to think digital first. In April 2015, she oversaw the conversion of Texas Lawyer from a weekly newspaper to a daily digital publication and monthly magazine. Heather and her team have won several Jesse H. Neal awards for best single issue and best theme issue of a paper or magazine. Before joining ALM, Nevitt practiced law and earned her juris doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law in East Lansing, Michigan.

The American Lawyer was founded in 1979 and is the leading daily news source covering legal business, law firms and lawyers across the United States and around the world. The publication is an award-winning magazine with robust, daily online content that delivers up-to-the-minute news, analysis and tools that are critical for lawyers and administrators from the largest law firms. Passarella will focus on developing the brand’s innovation strategy and promoting the American Lawyer’s editorial content and efforts.

Passarella joined ALM in 2005, where for more than 10 year she covered the business of law for ALM’s Pennsylvania publication, The Legal Intelligencer, focusing on the trends and issues impacting the largest law firms in the state and beyond. In June 2016, Passarella moved into the role of Senior Editor, Business of Law in ALM’s Global Newsroom. In this role, Gina wrote and co-led a team of highly skilled journalists from around the country who report on and analyze how the world’s law firms operate and compete. Passarella has won several awards for her reporting, including a Jesse H. Neal award for a series on the changing business models of law firm’s post-recession and two Emmy awards for her work doing feature reports with the American Law Journal. Before joining ALM, Passarella earned her master’s degree in broadcast journalism and public policy from American University in Washington, D.C.
