David Wallis appointed new Opinion Editor at The Forward
Wallis was most recently deputy editor at The New York Observer (now simply The Observer), and before that was founder of Featurewell.com
NEW YORK, NY – January 18, 2017 – The Forward, America’s leading Jewish news source since 1897, has named David Wallis as its new Opinion Editor. Wallis joins The Forward from The Observer, continuing a series of newsroom and business-side hires including Peter Beinart as Senior Columnist and Rachel Fishman Feddersen as Publisher and CEO.

Wallis brings to The Forward years of experience in journalism, most recently at The Observer (formerly The New York Observer). As Deputy Editor he oversaw the opinion page, creating four new columns, as well as editing many features and special sections. Wallis is also the founder of Featurewell.com, an early online syndication marketplace devoted to curated, high-quality journalism. Before The ObserverWallis was a freelance journalist for The New Yorker, Wired, The Daily Telegraph, The Washington Post,The New York Times, and other outlets, and interviewed world leaders including Vaclav Havel, Manuel Noriega, and Presidents Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford.
