Digital publishing platform app updates from Mag+ and Magzter, Twitter update comes through

The Mag+ Designd Reviewer iOS app has been updated, as well as the digital newsstand app from Magzter, which now includes rich push notifications

The Twitter app update, written about yesterday, which adds the ability to broadcast live video, has made its way through the Apple App Store system. The video feature – ‘powered by Periscope’ – does not require that the mobile phone owner have the Periscope app on their device, or even have a Periscope account. One would, of course, need a Twitter account.

“Starting today, you can create and Tweet live videos from the Twitter app, powered by Periscope,” the app description for the update says. “With live video, conversations on Twitter can become immersive experiences that anyone can join. To create a live video, tap “Live” when composing a Tweet, then hit “Go Live”; to join a live video, tap in and comment and send hearts to be a part of the moment. We can’t wait to join the experiences you share live!”

The new feature can be used by simply writing a tweet. When you press the write tweet button a new video camera icon appears which allows you to record video Pretty simple, really.

There were also two app updates for digital publishing platforms:

Mag+ has updated its Mag+ Designd Reviewer to version 6.5.0. This app is the preview app one uses when creating digital editions. There is another app called Semble Reviewer that is used when creating mobile apps – that app was last updated on December 1.

This update for the Designd Reviewer adds a new native image sequence block, as well as fixes some bugs.

The update for Magzter is for its digital newsstand app, also called Magzter. Here is the app description info:

What’s New in Version 6.10
– Rich push notifications
– Reader improvements
– Option to edit selected interests (For You) from articles tab
– Japanese localization enabled
– 3D touch enabled from app icon
– Today extension widget added
– Issue fixed – Reopening magazine reader to last read page even when app closed from reader

This afternoon La Presse updated its iPad app, La Presse+. “Correction des arrêts inattendus survenant avec la dernière mise à jour de l’application” – basic translation: a bug fix update to solve a crash issue.
