Report says digital holography market to exceed $25M by 2025

I am always leery of industry reports that try and forecast the growth of a particular market. For one thing, one can say anything are rarely do people go back to point out how overinflated a previous forecast has been – like saying the stock market will hit 20,000 then sitting back knowing that it well might, one day.

Still, holography has always been a fascination of mine. I once visited the holography museum in SoHo many years ago and was convinced at the time that the future of both photography and film was holography. No cumbersome glasses, no apps, just holography.

But that museum closed its doors many years ago, and other galleries have continued to appear, because holography never went away. It is probably this belief in the medium that continues to make me skeptical about the latest hot new thing, VR, which has also been around a long time, but requires all the things that 3D does.

In any case, here is a research report offering on the growth of the holography market, and though it is unlikely that I would be a candidate for spending $4200 on the report (it is currently discounted to $3780), maybe you would be.
