Sam Jacobs to become Executive Editor of Time Digital

Jacobs joined Time Inc. as Senior Editor,, and before that was with Thomson Reuters

TIme Inc. announced today that Sam Jacobs will become Executive Editor of Time Digital. Jacobs has been Assistant Managing Editor at Time Magazine, after joining as Senior Editor, in June of 2013.

Prior to joining Time, Jacobs was correspondent at Thomson Reuters.

We’re delighted to announce that Sam Jacobs will become Executive Editor of Time Digital. This promotion reflects Sam’s role steering day-to-day online coverage across all verticals and platforms, including video, photography, social, data and newsletters. In his new role, Sam will also oversee the news digital desk, helping drive Time’s growing collaboration with digital titles throughout Time Inc.

Sam’s leadership, superb judgment and eye for talent have been key to the success of our digital efforts. Since joining Time three years ago, he has recruited many of our staff, led our digital long-form initiative and built our interactive news team. He oversaw the creation of our 24/7 publishing desk, which has radically increased the volume, relevance and speed of our content. Along the way, our audience has not only more than doubled but is now 50% ages 18 to 34, according to comScore.

Before coming to Time, Sam was a national political correspondent at Reuters, on the 2012 presidential campaign trail, an associate editor at Newsweek and a reporter at The Daily Beast, covering politics and culture. A graduate from Harvard, Sam has also written for the Boston Globe and the New York Observer.
