John Maher to become president of Oregonian Media Group, parent of The Oregonian
Mayer’s new position will become effective in September, he has been since 2011 president of the Reno Gazette-Journal
The current president of RGJ Media, John Mayer, will become president of Oregonian Media Group, parent company of The Oregonian Mayer has been president of RGJ Media, publisher of the Reno Gazette Journal, and a Gannett paper, since April 2011.
Mayer will begin his new job after Labor Day.
Mayer, before moving to Reno in 2011, was publisher of the Lincoln Journal Star, a Lee Enterprises newspaper. He has also held positions at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Kansas City Star and at the specialty publisher Reiman Publications (now under the Trusted Media Brands umbrella). He is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
