Hearst Magazines Digital Media hires Mark Marvel as director of video sales and marketing

Marvel has previously been Director of Video and Mobile Sales Strategy for Time.com, and more recently Executive Director of Marketing for Time Magazine

NEW YORK, NY – June 30, 2016 – Hearst Magazines Digital Media (HMDM) has hired Mark Marvel as director of video sales and marketing. In this new position, Marvel is responsible for driving sales and providing marketing leadership for HMDM’s growing video offerings, which includes a slate of original programming previewed at the 2016 NewFronts from brands including Cosmopolitan, ELLE and Esquire, as well as bespoke and franchise video projects. The announcement was made by Todd Haskell, senior vice president and chief revenue officer, HMDM, to whom Marvel will report.

“Our teams produce more than 150 videos each week, from clever recipe hacks on Delish to smoky-eye tutorials on ELLE to documentaries on Cosmo,” Haskell said. “Demand for video is increasing exponentially, from both consumers and marketers, and Mark will work with the sales, marketing and audience dev teams across our portfolio to find and deliver the perfect opportunities.”

Marvel joins Hearst Magazines Digital Media from Time Inc., where he led video sales strategy for TIME and Time.com. Prior to that, he spent 15 years in a variety of digital and video sales leadership roles for Microsoft businesses including Skype, MSN, MSNBC and Sidewalk. He began his career as a writer and editor for Esquire, ELLE and Interview.

Marvel holds a B.A. and M.A. from Columbia University in English and French Literature.
