Suzanne Wilson hired as Director of Sales at The New Republic
The magazine’s publisher, Hamilton Fish, also announced that Erika Velazquez Alpern has been promoted to VP of Marketing and Communications
The New Republic, undergoing a radical transformation following its sale by Chris Hughes, co-founder of Facebook, announced that Suzanne Wilson has been hired as Director of Sales.
Hamilton Fish, the new publisher, also announced that Erika Velazquez Alpern has been promoted to VP of Marketing and Communications. Alpern was previously Senior Director of Marketing.

I am writing with some exciting internal news.
Today, Suzanne Wilson is joining the New Republic as our Director of Sales. In her role at the New Republic, she will oversee the sales department and will be responsible for bringing integrated programs to our clients across all platforms, including print, digital, and events. Before joining TNR, Suzanne served in senior account management positions at Crain’s New York Business, USA TODAY and The New York Times. She is a graduate of Goucher College in Towson, MD where she majored in Political Science. In her personal time, Suzanne serves on numerous boards including, the Alumnae Board of The Hewitt School and is a Deacon at the Brick Church. Please join me in welcoming Suzanne.
Additionally, today Erika Velazquez Alpern has been promoted to VP of Marketing and Communications where she will continue to oversee and build the department dedicated to developing our brand, PR and editorial promotion, revenue marketing, digital marketing, and events. Since joining TNR last April, Erika led the relaunch of the brand, launched an audience development strategy which drove 20% of overall traffic, developed the New Republic’s events arm and launched brand-building events, including an Editors Breakfast series and TNR Talks, and oversaw publicity for the New Republic’s journalism and writers which led to a 100% increase in media mentions monthly.
