Propel Marketing to open new telesales center this March in Manchester, NH

This press release requires a bit of explanation as to why it might be on interest to TNM readers. Propel Marketing is a division of Propel Business Services, Inc., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of New Media Investment Group Inc., the company that owns 78 daily and 235 weekly newspapers.

At around the same time New Media announced that it had sold off the Las Vegas Review Journal to a mystery buyer that turned out to be casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson, the company announced that it had acquired the B2B media properties of The Dolan Company. Obviously, the Las Vegas deal got all the attention, but those of us interested in B2B media were paying attention to the Dolan deal, it seemed a bit out of place.

But the reason for the interest in the properties, beside the fact that Dolan had just emerged from bankruptcy and so was ripe for a sale, was that its real estate and law journals might fit in with New Media’s B2B marketing arm, Propel Business Services.

Two weeks ago, New Media announced a new CEO for The Dolan Company, Adam Reinebach. Reinebach launched and led Responsive Partners, a digital consultancy specializing in B2B turnarounds, and before that served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director at SourceMedia.

Here is the latest announcement concerning Propel and New Media:

QUINCY, Mass. – February 10, 2016 — Propel Marketing, a leading national provider of digital marketing products and services for local businesses, will open a new telesales center this March in Manchester, NH, bringing new jobs to the city’s downtown.

Since being founded in 2012, Propel has seen rapid growth. The company opened a Boston office in 2015 to house its engineering team, and recently leased and renovated an additional 10,000 square feet in its Quincy, Mass., headquarters.

The new space has capacity for 40 additional employees to support Propel’s aggressive hiring plan in 2016.
