Former USA Today publisher Craig Moon named publisher at the Las Vegas Journal Review
The Las Vegas Review Journal has a new publisher, Craig Moon, who was president and publisher of Gannett’s USA Today from 2003 to 2009. Since leaving Gannett, Moon has been Owner and CEO of Lake Norman Publications, a group of five community newspapers near Charlotte, North Carolina, but plans to move to Las Vegas. Moon becomes the seventh publisher of the paper in the past six years.
Jason Taylor, interim publisher of the newspaper since its purchase by casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson, returns to GateHouse Media. GateHouse Media had previously bought the paper in January of last year, then turned around and sold it to Adelson for a hefty profit, and now is operating the paper for Adelson for an undisclosed amount.

“I understand that ownership transitions can create questions among staff and readers alike,” Moon said in a statement. “I intend to answer these questions with my actions — actions that will demonstrate my commitment to The R-J, to the people who work here, and to the community we all serve.”
Prior to his post at USA Today, Moon was President and Publisher at The Tennessean for 10 years, and before that held the same position at the Arkansas Gazette.
It is understood that Moon will not be reporting into GateHouse Media, but will be Adelson’s man in Las Vegas.
