HBO updates its HBO Go apps in preparation for Jan. 16 debut of Sesame Street
The HBO Go app has been updated today as the cable network gets ready for January 16 launch of Sesame Street with the service. Sesame Street inked a five-season deal with HBO in August of last year after many years on PBS.
The Sesame Workshop had been operating at a loss in recent years, losing $11 million in 2014 alone. “”Without this five-year funding commitment from HBO, we would not have a sustainable funding model that would allow for the continued production of the show,” Sesame Workshop CEO Jeff Dunn told The Hollywood Reporter last year.
The update will bring in a new Kids section, though that section will not go live just yet.
Here is the app description for the update:
- Starting on Jan. 16, watch Sesame Street, Pinky Dinky Doo and The Electric Company in the new Kids section
- Option to enable a Kids Lock on your mobile device to keep your child restricted to content within the Kids section
- Updated reminders of the availability of Parental Controls
- Bug fixes
