Irene Edwards returns to Time Inc. as Editor-in-Chief of Sunset
Time Inc. today announced that Irene Edwards has returned to the company as the new editor-in-chief of Sunset.
Edwards had previously been executive editor of Sunset from 2004 to 2008, and later oversaw the special projects department at Travel + Leisure. Edwards left Time Inc to become Executive Editor at the shelter magazine Lonny.
“We are delighted to bring Irene back to Sunset,” wrote Norman Pearlstine and Evelyn Webster to staff. “She is the archetype of the modern brand leader: editorially savvy, digital first, adept at branded content and curious about every facet of how we live our lives today, from how we eat and travel to how we make our homes—as well as the politics of those decisions. She will be a dynamic leader for Sunset as it moves into its new home in Oakland.”
Edwards will be replacing Peggy Northrop, who was named editor in 2013. Northrup is the co-founder of Shebooks, a storytelling platform focusing on e-book publishing for women.
