Rare afternoon daily, The Columbus Telegram, to switch to morning delivery

There aren’t many afternoon newspapers around anymore. Now there will be one less.

Beginning on October 27, The Columbus Telegram will switch to morning delivery Tuesday through Friday. The Sunday paper will also transition to a Saturday weekend edition.

ColTele-180The newspaper serves Columbus, Nebraska, a town of about 23,000, some 84 miles west of Omaha. Columbus is the county seat of Platt County.

“I am very happy that our company has suitably converted The Columbus Telegram to a morning delivery in the true tradition of what newspapers have symbolized for more than 300 years,” Telegram Publisher John DiMambro said.

“I am equally excited that with our new Saturday weekend edition we are now able to provide local sports results one day earlier in the printed version of our newspaper. Even though this means there will no longer be a Sunday edition, you can be assured that you are not losing a Sunday newspaper, you are instead receiving printed news one day earlier and then ongoing with updates on”

The Telegram is a Lee Enterprises owned property.
