BNP Media’s NYC staff on the move up… to the 60th floor of the Empire State Building

The background here is that BNP Media, based out of Troy, Michigan, north of Detroit, recently acquired the construction titles Engineering News-Record, Architectural Record, and SNAP from Dodge Data & Analytics. That company was actually a start-up formed when the McGraw-Hill sold off its construction B2B products to Symphony Technology Group in September of last year.

What the new company was most interested in were the data products, not the B2B magazines – despite that fact that both ENR and ArchRecord are iconic trade publishing titles. And so they were sold off to the B2B publisher BNP Media.

But the staffs at the magazines, which used to work out of McGraw-Hill’s Avenue of the America’s address, needed a new home. So, today’s announcement is all about accomplishing that.

NEW YORK, NY – September 3, 2015 — BNP Media today announced the move of its New York staff to the 60th floor offices in Manhattan’s iconic Empire State Building.

The move follows BNP Media’s recent acquisition of Architectural Record, considered “the record” of architectural history, a monthly magazine that has been dedicated to architecture and interior design for more than 110 years; ENR, a weekly magazine, founded in 1874, providing news, analysis, data and opinion for the worldwide construction industry; and SNAP, a newer publication devoted entirely to building products.

“These extraordinary publications have a magnificent reputation and unparalleled reach in their industries. With new purpose, energy and offerings, we wanted our regional staff to have a fresh, upscale and re-energized work space to match,” said BNP Media co-CEOs Harper, Mitchell and Taggart Henderson. “The Empire State Building is an Art Deco masterpiece, one of the world’s most prestigious business addresses. We are proud to join other great media and professional tenants like Workday, Shutterstock and LinkedIn.”

CBRE represented BNP Media in its lease of 13,000 square feet of Class-A office space on the Empire State Building’s 60th floor. Evenson Best is assisting with space design and outfitting of the new suite. BNP Media’s former New York location was at 1221 Avenue of the Americas, also known as the McGraw-Hill Building.

BNP Media — a fourth-generation family-run company — has more than 90 brands catering to seven distinct industry markets. With its leading business-to-business publications, research, digital products, and events, BNP Media has been committed since 1926 to helping industry professionals succeed by providing superior information through its industry expertise when, where and how they want to receive it.

The co-CEOs added: “Our New York editorial, market research and sales teams will work seamlessly with support professionals based at our Troy, Mich., headquarters. In this way, as a team of creative professionals, we can create and globally deliver targeted, timely, superior information via a wide variety of insight, services and media that brings our customers closer to their customers. The addition of a full capability video production studio in our New York office also further expands our overall abilities. Our entire organization is excited about this new BNP Media 350 Fifth Avenue address.”
