zFoundry launches zCloud, a Dropbox helper app for the Mac
The app is available in the Mac App Store for a special introductory price of $1.99 until August 18
SAN PEDRO, CA – August 6, 2015 — zFoundry, LLC recently entered the OS X app market with zCloud, an app that connects to Dropbox to allow users to quickly and easily create shareable links to screenshots, images and other files for instant collaboration without the hassle of bulky attachments or signing into additional software or websites.
An instantly shareable link is generated by dragging a file to the zCloud icon in the menubar, taking a screenshot with customizable keyboard shortcuts or designating a Finder folder(s) that will automatically upload and generate links for files added to it. The link is automatically copied to the clipboard when any of these actions are performed, so all the user has to do is paste and share via email, instant message or any other method.
“In today’s world of virtual offices and remote collaboration, it saves an enormous amount of time—and disk space,” said Nicholas Fortino, CDO of zFoundry, who first conceived the app while collaborating on a variety of creative projects with co-founder Corey J. Mahler. “The ease of workflow is incredible for collaboration. I rely on it daily.”
zCloud seamlessly links to a user’s existing Dropbox account to create its own folder where files are instantly stored and a link copied to the clipboard via any of the aforementioned methods. Anyone with the link can view and add comments, making collaboration and feedback a cinch without subscriptions and sign-ins for project management software.
Working with Dropbox also means that zCloud doesn’t use a proprietary backend like other sharing apps that have become costly and restrictive. This allows zCloud to avoid any monthly or yearly service fees and gives users at least 2GB of free storage space for shared files, limited only by the size of their Dropbox account.
Users can install zCloud on multiple Macs without any additional purchase, and will keep shares in sync across all devices, allowing users to copy the share links for files from zCloud’s menu on a different device than the one on which it was created.
zCloud is available in the Mac App Store for a special introductory price of $1.99 until August 18, 2015, and only $9.99 after that. zCloud will always be available and fully functional for a one-time purchase price—no upgrades, hidden costs or ongoing subscriptions.
