Hoping to drive new app submissions, Amazon offering $100 advertising credit
Is it really necessary to encourage developers to launch more apps? Amazon thinks so, at least for their platform. The company has send registered developers a promotional email offering them a $100 credit for new developers to help promote their apps.
The ads are part of Amazon’s Advertise Your App program where developers set a budget and bid amount. The ads then appear, assuming the developer has bid high enough, on Amazon’s own ad network.
If you have never published an app to the Amazon Appstore before, now is the perfect time to join. For a limited time, we are offering the first 1,000 developers that qualify a $100 promotional credit* towards an ad campaign on Advertise Your App. Advertise Your App helps you promote your app to millions of users on Fire tablet wakescreens and mobile placements on the Amazon Mobile Ad Network. Ads are shown to users within the United States, depending on app compatability (sic).
The idea is to get those already built Android apps inside Google Play to also be placed in Amazon’s App Store. It must be frustrating to see developers, including media app developers, launch of iOS, then build an app for Google Play but not launch into Amazon’s store.
The promotion is only geared towards those who have not previously launched an app into the Amazon store, so the company is sending out emails to those who have registered to be developers but have not as yet submitted an app (TNM fits that description). The credit is delivered after the developer has submitted their app, and when it has been reviewed and is live inside the store.
Amazon reports earnings tomorrow afternoon after the closing bell.
