Media app updates: Pandora and Rdio Music update iOS apps
Also updated was Amazon’s main shopping app in order to add access to its Brazil website
The news that Apple will be launching a new music streaming service with the release of iOS 9 doesn’t mean the other services are just going to go away, or stop releasing their own app updates. Over the past 24 hours both Pandora and Rdio Music have updated their iOS apps, and Spotify (I believe) updated its desktop app (at least mine said there was an update available).
Pandora’s update to Pandora Music brings in a new design for the iPad (though, to be honest, I didn’t see anything different after the update).
What’s New in Version 6.1
- Our new design is now available the iPad. Check it out!
- We exiled some bugs that may have gotten between you and your music discovery.
Rdio Music has been updated to version 3.6.4 and is mainly a bug fix update. Two more major updates were released last month. One created a notifications page, the other was a bug fix update.
Far bigger news for Rdio is that they launched what it is calling Rdio Select, an on-demand service that costs only $3.99. They are also offering two months free. They are also streaming at 320kbps, they say.
Low cost, and presumably less inventory, is certainly one way to combat the big players (Spotify today, and possibly Apple soon).
There were few other updates released today, though Amazon did update its main shoppoing app (called simply Amazon App) which added a way to shop its Brazil online store.
