eBay Classifieds partnering with adMarketplace to improve search experience
The search intent ad network adMarketplace announced that they would be partnering with eBay Classifieds to provide improved search experiences for readers on both mobile and tablet devices.
adMarketplace has now replaced Google as eBay Classified’s primary search monetization partner, and according to the company, is now responsible for 98% of eBay Classified’s mobile and tablet search revenue.
“I think eBay Classifieds is the perfect example of search fragmentation because they have an audience that doesn’t rely on Google to find what they are looking for,” said Vince Meyer, adMarketplace vice president of business development. “eBay realized that showing relevant ads to that audience can be rewarding for them — through ECPM growth — and their users — through increased CTR.”
“Having the flexibility to create ad units that are inline with the look and feel of mobile websites is key,” Meyer said. “No one wants to see a display ad unit taking-up half of the screen, or a video that plays as you scroll. Users will engage with ads that are relevant and not intrusive.”
adMarketplace was founded by Jamie Hill in March of 2000. Prior to adMarketplace, Hill was an executive at CBS Broadcasting. Adam J. Epstein serves as President & Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining adMarketplace in 2003, Epstein launched Fancast.com.
