Digital up and down in Australia: newspapers report growth, while magazines decline
The circulation of Australian magazine titles declined, according to new reports from the Audit Bureau of Circulations. At the same time, however, Australian newspapers appear to be able to grow their digital-only numbers.
The most pleasing trend over the past quarter is the increase The Australian has experienced in multi-platform paid members,” The Australian’s chief executive, Nicholas Gray, said.
But Australian magazines, like their U.S. and U.K. counterparts, are finding maintaining digital circulation growth difficult.
Digital-only sales of The Australian Women’s Weekly declined 25.3 percent, while donna hay was down 13.1 percent.
