Barnes & Noble to let readers vote on their favorite digital publications

The bookseller Barnes & Noble and NOOK Media LLC today announced that it would hold allow readers to vote on their favorite digital publications with its 1st Annual Readers’ Choice Newsstand Awards. Readers can vote through November 19 on the B&N website.

  • Cover of the Year
  • Best Advice Article
  • Article with the Biggest Societal Impact
  • Best Column or Feature
  • Most Inspirational Story
  • Best Pop Culture Magazine
  • Most Interesting Interview
  • Best “How-To” Article
  • Best International Import

Each category has four nominated periodicals and each will be available to read for free. The four nominations for best cover are from Bob Appetit, ESPN The Magazine, Rolling Stone and Architectural Digest, for instance.

“Both Barnes & Noble and NOOK have such an incredibly diverse selection of both physical and digital newsstand titles and we are excited to launch the Readers’ Choice Newsstand Awards as a way for customers to highlight the content they love and discover something new,” said Jonathan Shar, Vice President and General Manager of Emerging Digital Content at NOOK Media LLC.

To encourage voting, B&N is offering prizes including the grand prize of a trip for two to New York City and a $500 Barnes & Noble Gift Card, as well as other prizes such as a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 NOOK or $100 Barnes & Noble Gift Cards.
