Spotify adds support for Apple’s CarPlay in update to iOS app
The streaming music service Spotify has updated its universal iOS app this morning. The update fixes some bugs introduced with iOS 8 and added support for Apple’s CarPlay system.
One hasn’t heard much about CarPlay since it was previewed earlier this year. The system, which allows one to use their car’s built-in display to play music, send and get messages, and use the maps for navigation on the driver’s iPhone or iPad.
One reason so little has been heard of CarPlay lately is simply that the feature is only available on car models starting this year. Most automakers have, at least publicly, signed onto the system and will begin offering it in their new models. The electronics company Pioneer have also announced that they will feature CarPlay in their aftermarket in-dash car multimedia systems.
