Apple taps company veteran Steve Dowling as interim head of corporate communications
Apple has tapped company veteran Steve Dowling as interim head of corporate communications, according to recode.net. Dowling, at least for now, will replace Katie Cotton, who was VP of worldwide corporate communications, and retired after 18 years at Apple.
Officially, the company has been conducting a search for a new VP of communications, but with the position open, and it reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook, it made sense to acknowledge who was filling the role left open by the departure of Cotton. Dowling is most often quoted as Apple’s spokesman in those very rare occasions when the company has something officially to say.
