Camera+ updated to take advantage of Apple opening up its camera settings
The popular iPhone camera app, Camera+ from tap tap tap, has been updated to version 6.0. The major update allows the app to use the iPhone’s camera settings to offer photographers a wide range of adjustments.
A new app, Manual, was recently released and gotten plenty of attention from the tech press, with John Gruber of Daring Fireball even stating that it may be the app of the year following the release of iOS 8.
But many consumers have already bought and installed Camera+ and the older app now contains the same features that brought Manual to everyone’s attention.
The update for Camera+ now allows the user to adjust the color balance, exposure and focus settings. The app also offers a set of tools for editing the photos once shot.
My own experience with both apps is that the usefulness of the adjustments will be minimal for most users who are simply snapping away. But professional photographers, and photojournalists who find themselves in a difficult environment, may find the manual adjustments very helpful.
