Scribd updates iOS app, adds two-column reading mode for the iPad
The digital book subscription service Scribd has issued a major update of its reading app to add in some important new features. The Scribd service costs $8.99 per month and gives readers access to more than 500,000 book titles.
The big changes that come with version 3.7.0 are a new browsing experience, meant to assist the reader find desirable titles. Basically, it is a change in the curation of books by the company’s editors.
Readers who already use the Scribd app on their iPad will discover the new two column reading mode when placing their tablets in landscape orientation.
The update also adds support for Japanese and Chinese characters, as well as promising faster book downloads and improved page layouts and hyphenation.
