Mag+ updates Reviewer app to fix bugs, offers app marketing guide
The digital publishing platform Mag+ today issued an update to its Mag+ Reviewer app to fix a series of bugs. The app is used to preview digital editions created using its InDesign plug-in solution.
The company also released an app marketing guide, available as a PDF from the company’s website.
The marketing guide includes tips for naming your app, writing app descriptions, selecting the right category, etc. All the tips involve things publishers should do with app creation rather than external promotion.
This is rather consistent with Mag+’s own approach, which has been to concentrate on its own website and internal communications rather than external communications. In this regard, the company is run like it is itself a media company rather than a technology company.
Mag+, like some other digital publishing platforms, is putting greater emphasis these days on luring corporate customers, deemphasizing publishers. Nonetheless, despite the loss of one rather high profile customer, new digital magazine apps using the platform continue to appear in the Apple Newsstand.
