The NYT promotes deputy editor Marc Lavallee to head of interactive news technology

Former Wired magazine senior editor Bill Wasik named deputy editor at the New York Times Magazine

The journalism website Poynter reports that Marc Lavallee, who is currently Deputy Editor of Interactive News will be promoted to head interactive news technology. He replaces Aron Pilhofer who left the NYT for The Guardian to become executive editor of digital.

Lavallee will report to CTO Rajiv Pant and Ian Fisher who is Assistant Managing Editor for Digital Operations.

The NYT also announced that Bill Wasik has been named deputy editor for the New York Times Magazine. Wasik has previously senior editor at Wired magazine, and before that senior editor at Harper’s Magazine. He is author of the book And Then There’s This: How Stories Live and Die in Viral Culture and co-wrote the book Rapid with with his wife, Monica Murphy, who is a veterinarian
