Piano Media lands DC Thomson’s title ‘The Press and Journal’ – their first UK customers

The new customer represents the fifth international market that Piano has entered with its metered paywall software since the Q2 of 2013

Aberdeen, Scotland – June 5, 2014 –– Piano Media’s metering software solution will be used as the digital subscription solution for The Press and Journal’s new website. The implementation is Piano Media’s first in the UK and continues the company’s rapid international expansion since it started offering metered products in 2013.

DC Thomson’s Head of Digital, Kirsten Morrison said, “After looking at the various paid content solution providers, we decided that Piano’s ‘Lite’ solution was the best fit for us. “We were very impressed by Piano’s flexibility and their integration and implementation speed.”

The Press and Journal’s website focuses on providing instant news access to users with a real-time stream of breaking news in timeline form. The website operates on a metered paywall basis offering readers access to ten free articles per month after which they must choose from one of three available subscription packages.

Peter Richards, Piano’s International Operations Director stated, “We are pleased that The Press and Journal has chosen us as their digital subscription software provider. Entering the UK market solidifies our presence outside of central Europe; as we’ve recently launched our solutions in Germany, Spain and the US.”

Piano Media manages subscription revenue for more than 100 media websites from 30 different major publishing houses in Europe and the United States. Since 2010, Piano has focused primarily on Europe and has recently concluded sales with German, Spanish, US and Indian publishers.
