Advantage Business Media shutters digital media industry website eMediaVitals.com

Website was acquired in early 2013 with the site’s publisher, Prescott Shibles, added to the company’s executive team as Chief Digital Officer

The B2B publisher Advantage Business Media will be shuttering its digital media website eMedia Vitals. The site reached 20,000-plus publishing professionals with a cross between news, blog posts and contributed material.

Former Ziff Davis and McKinsey & Company editor Rob O’Regan, who served as editorial director, will be leaving the company with the move.

The website and its Twitter feed has been black since May 28, though the decision was apparently reached and announced today.

Advantage Business Media acquired the website in 2013. Earlier this year the parent company itself was sold to the Owner Resource Group, an Austin, Texas private-equity firm. The B2B company has properties involved in design, communications, manufacturing and science.

The move comes after a tough year for publishing industry publications and websites. In October Crain Communications merged its ad and publishing property BtoB into Advertising Age.

Update: First thing this morning readers of the eMediaVitals newsletter received official notification of the closing of the title:

“I’m sorry to announce that we have decided to discontinue eMediaVitals.com and the weekly Vital Guide newsletter, effective immediately. I am truly thankful for your support over the past five years – it has been a great ride,” O’Regan wrote.
