Fotolia, Europe’s #1 stock photo library, launches iPad app
Users can download images to the iPad’s Camera Roll or directly into a Dropbox account
NEW YORK and LONDON – May 13, 2014 — Europe’s leading microstock photo site, Fotolia, today announced the launch of a new application for iPad. This fun and intuitive app helps users to search, download, and share royalty-free images from Fotolia’s 28 million creative files with just one click.
Aimed at professionals in the communications and graphic art industry, the new Fotolia iPad app enhances the user experience through four simple steps: 1. Discovering 2. Selecting 3. Sharing and 4. Purchasing.
Using the pleasing and ergonomic interface, users can search for royalty-free images and files from Fotolia’s online database of over 28 million files.
The app offers a new visual experience, with search results appearing on the page in mosaic form. In just one click, the user can see a full frame high quality preview and scroll through search results to the next screen with their fingertip. The image’s information tab allows users to see more images from that series, the same artist, or with the same keyword. From there, the user can also enter different keywords to start a new search.
Using Fotolia’s state-of-the-art search engine, users can filter search results according to price, file type (photo, illustration, vector), collection (Standard Collection, Instant Collection); or Options (e.g., panoramic images).
Users can select and keep any number of images for future reference in personal galleries, share them via email or on social networks (Facebook, Twitter), and most importantly, download them directly to the camera roll on their iPad or Dropbox account, and still keep the requested file size.

Catering to growing industry needs
The iPad app is a key part of Fotolia’s current growth strategy, centered around applications for mobile devices. Launched in late 2013, the Instant Collection app for smartphones now has over 30,000 users.
Fotolia’s mobile device apps cater to the growing need for a quick and easy user experience. “Our mobile applications are developed internally, by our R&D team,” says Morgan David De Lossy, Director of mobile strategy for Fotolia. “We’ve recruited another six developers in the past year, in order to focus on our mobile strategy, in addition to our already existing team of 20.”
The app is compatible with iOS 7, and can be downloaded free from the App Store.
