Open Door Media launches new native tab edition for Investment Europe into the Apple Newsstand
Newly launched iPad edition a collaboration between Open Door Media and Apptitude Studio, both offshoots of Incisive Media
A new tablet edition edition for Investment Europe has been released by Open Door Media. Open Door Media is a new B2B UK publisher that has taken ownership of Investment Europe from Incisive Media – and the app was created by the Apptitude Studio team, which itself was created with the founding of Apptitude Media when that company acquired the British Journal of Photography from Incisive Media.
The new app launched into Apple’s Newsstand replaces the app launched by Incisive Media. That app was a replica edition, while the new app is what TNM labels a hybrid edition: the editorial pages have been redesigned and formatted for the iPad, while the ads are pretty much the same as seen in print.
By the way: the older app was called “Investment Europe” inside the Apple Newsstand so the new app had to be renamed “InvestmentEurope” (something to keep in mind when naming apps, keep them unique.)
There is really no comparison between the old and the new apps: one is difficult to read and was not designed for tablet readers, while the new app is easier to read, with better layouts and design, and with a few native tablet features added in such as video, links and scrolling text boxes.
The design is a great example of how a B2B magazine can create a tablet edition that is simple enough to produce month and month out, yet gives readers a superior reading experience.
In several places there are links that let the reader access web content in order to gain the latest news.
“In an ever-changing media landscape, it is vital for B2B brands to evolve with innovative ways to engage readers and showcase advertisers,” Nick Rapley, CEO of Open Door Media Publishing, said in the announcement for the new app. “The Apptitude Studio team have been instrumental in bringing Investment Europe magazine to life in an interactive touchscreen environment, embedding social media and live news into the heart of our dynamic new app for fund selectors and investment professionals across Europe.”
The app and the digital edition inside are free to download. There is a free subscription offered inside, as well, which will allow readers to have their monthly editions download automatically.
