The Red Sox are in Ft. Myers for spring training, so the Globe is there, too
The Boston Globe announced today that it will be selling editions of the newspaper in and around Ft. Myers, Florida this spring, the first time the paper has offered single copies in Florida. Ft. Myers, of course, is the home of the Boston Red Sox during spring training. The team starts is spring off by playing a game against Boston College tomorrow before starting its Grapefruit League schedule off Friday with a game against the Minnesota Twins.
(For non-US readers, the Grapefruit League is not really a league at all, just the name given the teams that have their spring training facilities in Florida and play games against each other to prepare for the regular season. The teams that have their facilities in Arizona and play each other are said to be part of the Cactus League. The first game of the regular season is at 4am ET on March 22. It is being played in Australia between the Dodgers and the Diamondbacks. The league is crazy, no?)
The Globe is offering home delivery for local residents, which is pretty amazing. Otherwise, one can pick up a copy of the paper at Walgreens, 7-Eleven, Circle K, CVS, Sweetbay, RaceTrac and Hess stores though out Lee and Collier counties.
