Kobo Books gives iOS app an update, expands support for built-in media in books and magazines
The iOS app for Kobo Books has been updated, adding in support for built-in media such graphics and video. The update brings the app up to version 7.1. The company’s last update for Kobo Books was released January 9th and involved iOS 7 support.
Kobo is based in Toronto and is part of the Japanese company Rakutan. More than a year ago Kobo acquired Aquafadas, the digital publishing solutions company based in Montpellier, France. Quite a number of publishers remain hopeful that Kobo (or Amazon) will one day release a eBook solution as easy to use as Apple’s iBooks Author, but one that will work cross-platform.

1. A new Home screen featuring your recent reading activity and monthly stats.
2. Easier access to key terms, author info and public notes directly from your book’s menu.
3. Expanded support for books and magazines with built-in media, such as graphics and videos.
