Apple said to have acquired Burstly, owner of TestFlight beta testing solution

The beta testing service TestFlight said on Friday that is would ending support of Android app beta testing by March 21. The news came as TechCrunch was able to confirm, kind of, that Apple would be acquiring the owner of TestFlight.

TestFlight-featureBurstly owns both TestFlight and SkyRocket, an app monetization solution. Apple did not directly confirm the purchase but said its usual “Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time…”

TestFlight is used by developers to allow third parties to test their apps before launching. TNM occasionally gets requests from companies to preview their app using the solution.

Apple will most likely incorporate TestFlight into its developer program as it currently does not have a beta testing protocol such as Google’s Developer Console.
