Pandora issues app update to add push notifications
Last week Pandora sent its users an email to give them fair warning about an app update to come soon. The update would include the addition of push notifications, something users often say “No” to reflexively.
This afternoon Pandora’s app update made it through Apple’s system and appeared in the App Store. The update to the Pandora Radio universal app brings it up to version 5.2.
Pandora will be using push notifications to tell listeners of new music available on their stations, something that Pandora now does through occasional emails. Of course, the push notifications can be used for other promotional messages, but the user can always turn them off, of course.
