California Film Commission announces the launch of LOCATION CALIFORNIA magazine
Distribution of the 2014 edition began earlier this month at the Sundance Film Festival and will continue at major industry events including the Berlin International Film Festival
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – January 28, 2014 — As part of its ongoing effort to promote motion picture, television and commercial production across the state, the California Film Commission today announced the launch of LOCATION CALIFORNIA magazine.
The new publication transforms the Commission’s annual statewide film office directory into a content-rich journal highlighting the very best production talent, infrastructure and locations California has to offer.
Distribution of the 2014 edition began earlier this month at the Sundance Film Festival, and will continue at major industry events including the Berlin International Film Festival (February 6-15), AFCI Locations Show (March 27-29), Cannes International Film Festival (May 14-25) and California Locations Conference (June 28). The hard copy magazine is also available by request via the Film Commission’s website (www.film.ca.gov), which includes a digital version of the full publication.
“LOCATION CALIFORNIA gives readers a glimpse into what it’s like to work in California and why, despite all the competing incentives in other states and countries, there remains no substitute for shooting in the Golden State,” said California Film Commission Executive Director Amy Lemisch.
Stories include on-location reports about projects produced in California, as well as the people behind them. In-depth features cover the latest developments and trends at the studios, movie ranches and locations that make California the entertainment production capital.
In addition, the debut edition of LOCATION CALIFORNIA examines how Los Angeles serves as the world’s on-location chameleon, doubling for New York City and many other urban centers. There is also a series of brief production case studies, an overview of how California is leading the charge toward sustainable production, and a gallery of some of the state’s most iconic filming locations.
LOCATION CALIFORNIA is published by the California Film Commission, with production by Boutique Editions, Ltd. using California-based suppliers. All production, distribution and related costs are covered by ad sales and sponsorships.
