Prior to Slashdot Media, Wellman served as Senior Vice President of Community & Content at Ziff Davis Enterprise and also held a variety of online roles at the UBM Tech division of United Business Media. Before that, he was one of the first employees at FierceMarkets, where he served as the company’s first editorial director overseeing a number of leading online brands, including FierceWireless and FierceBiotech.

“Summit is focused on providing a seamless digital experience for the professional communities we serve in the insurance, financial services and legal markets,” said Steve Weitzner, CEO. “At Slashdot Media, Ziff Davis Enterprise, UBM and FierceMarkets, Stephen and his teams helped transform digital brands. We are confident he will accelerate our digital strategy by innovating across our online, mobile, information services, education and social media offerings.”

“Digital strategy isn’t just about the desktop web anymore. It has to combine online with mobile, data services, education, live events and social media to create a seamless user experience,” Wellman said. “Summit has an impressive array of dedicated, passionate communities in a variety of markets. We plan to leverage Summit’s assets to build must-use digital experiences for all of our professional communities.”
