Houghton Mifflin Harcourt acquires Choice Solutions, a provider of data analytics, integration solutions
Acquisition includes edFusion and brings expertise in data science, reporting and security
BOSTON – October 29, 2013 — Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) today announced the acquisition of Choice Solutions, Inc. (www.choicep20.com), a Massachusetts-based provider of data analytics, integration solutions and professional services for state and district-level education systems.
The acquisition represents a strategic investment in the development of secure data analytics at HMH, enabling educators to have greater insight into individual learners. Further demonstrating HMH’s commitment to outcome-based solutions, this acquisition includes edFusionTM, a unified architecture and data management system which facilitates real-time data analysis, standards-based application integration, optimized reporting, and secure, delegated access for students, educators, administrators and parents.
Choice Solutions’ systems enable integration of disparate data sources into one unified, student-centric and outcome-oriented platform. This can align learning programs to targeted objectives and indicators, and allow education stakeholders to take preemptive action to improve student outcomes, while monitoring and assessing the value of those interventions.
“The combination of HMH’s trusted and proven educational content with Choice’s expertise in the areas of data science, reporting and security will enable us to provide a truly comprehensive learning solution based on rigorous instruction and scientific analysis,” said Linda Zecher, CEO of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. “By bridging the gaps between classroom instruction and data analysis at the state and district level, we can facilitate tailored interventions and ultimately deliver better outcomes for students.”
“We are thrilled to join one of the world’s leading education companies. We share a belief in true partnership with our customers, that will enable us to bring a collaborative approach and a comprehensive solution which meets the needs of education stakeholders,” said Srinivas Kallakurchi, CEO of Choice Solutions. “By leveraging HMH’s world-class content and market position, we will be in a position to offer our innovative solutions on an even broader scale.”
HMH will continue to serve Choice Solutions’ valued customer base, which includes several government organizations, including 15 State Departments of Education. The acquisition will include all Choice Solutions employees, who will become an integrated part of HMH.
