Register.com officially changes over to Web.com three years after acquisition
Three years after acquiring Register.com for $135 million, the URL registration website will officially be rebranded Web.com, announced David L. Brown, CEO of Web.com.
“Web.com is focused on helping small businesses succeed online with our broad range of Build-it-for-Me services,” wrote Brown to customers this morning. “So, what do we mean by that? Each website we design, Facebook page we launch or online marketing campaign we build is customized to meet your business’ specific needs, starting with an in-depth interview with you. We want to understand what makes your business tick in order to build the most powerful web presence for you. You say it, and we build it.”
Web.com acquired Register.com in June of 2010, at a time when the property was the leading domain name registration site. Register.com was founded in 1994 and currently has about 800,000 subscribers.
