USA Today to raise its newsstand price to $2 starting September 30

Gannett’s USA Today confirmed yesterday that it would raises its newsstand cover price to $2 – doubled from $1 – starting on September 30. The move was first reported by the Gannettblog.

Heidi Zimmerman, director of communications at USA Today, blamed rising costs for the move.

“The $2.00 cover price now has us competitively priced against other national newspapers,” Washington Business Journal reports Zimmerman as stating.
